Posted by Pierced GlamoBaby in : Ideal PiercingWhether you own a piercing shop or you wish to have piercing supplies & tools at your home, you should know the basics of which tools are used for specific procedures. It is vitally important to use the proper tools. Trying to perform a piercing with the wrong tools or home made tools will rarely give you good results. When the body is pierced, it is essentially wounded; it takes the correct tools and then the correct guidelines of allowing your body to heal a certain way in order for a piercing to be successful. Learn what you need to know.
One of the most useful and popular instruments in the vast array of piercing tools & supplies is the body piercing stretcher. This tool will be used for those who wish to have a piercing slowly enlarged; this is one of the trendier types of piercing. A piercing can cause scar tissue inside the body, so that when the piercing is stretched, it may resist! A good and dependable body piercing stretcher tool will be needed in order to basically force the body to do something that it is resisting against. Each time the tool is used to stretch a hole bigger, the body must then be given plenty of time to allow skin to grow thick and strong around the area.
A piercing stretcher is not just used for making holes larger. This tool will also be used for help with inserting new jewelry and also for helping insert a piece when the hole is partially closed up. The stretcher can help to slowly and gently open the hole to its original size; thus saving the customer from having to have it done again.
As you keep going up a size, you will most definitely need a caliber. This is a measuring tool that will measure the jewelry that will be inserted to ensure that the correct size is put into the body. If a ring is too small, it will stretch the skin too much. This can result in infection and most likely a piercing that will not heal. A good caliber will show measurements in both inches and in centimeters. Most good caliber tools will measure an object that is as large as three inches.
A must have for piercing supplies & tools are apparatus and instruments for the fundamentals of sterilization. Gloves are underrated. Sterile gloves are extremely important. You can have the cleanest studio in the world and sterilize all of your equipment. However, if you sneeze and then gently touch your nose and then do not wear sterile gloves, you will be compromising the safety and health of those that you pierce. Every studio should have an over supply of sterile gloves so that there is never a chance to run out. No matter if you suddenly have a bus load of customers run through your doors; you need to have everything sterile.
Ultrasonic machines should be used to clean all tools. This type of machine will clean off any microscopic pieces of skin, blood and other particles that the human eye can not see. This is an absolute must and any customer should demand that this type of sterilization be done.
Ring closing pliers are another necessity. The name basically says it all here. Rings must have a tight close so that the piece does not have a chance of falling out of the hole. All pieces should be durable and strong enough so that they not only can withstand the ring closing pliers but also that they need them!
